Chris Hemsworth to star in Amazon MGM thriller ‘Subversion’

Chris Hemsworth is set to star in the Amazon MGM deep-sea thriller “Subversion,” directed by Patrick Vollrath.

Produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and written by Andrew Ferguson, the story has been described as a “Die Hard on a submarine” style thriller that centers on a “once-promising Naval commander (Hemsworth) who is blackmailed by a cartel-like operation into piloting a dangerous submarine carrying illegal cargo across international waters. Thrust into a high-stakes game of cat and mouse, the man must outmaneuver blockades and navigate perilous threats both in and outside of the submarine.”

Director Vollrath received an Oscar nomination for his 2016 short film “Everything Will Be Okay,” and made his feature directorial debut with the airplane thriller “7500” starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

See Ariana Grande’s video for ‘Twilight Zone’

Ariana Grande is sharing the music video for her song “Twilight Zone,” along with an a cappella version of the track.

The music video begins with the elderly-version of Grande from her ‘Brighter Days Ahead’ short film watching a video of her younger self wake up. The cinematic visual appears to be a prequel to Ariana’s “Supernatural” video, which shows her leaving the home and walking through a ravaged residential area before being beamed up into an alien spacecraft.

Grande released the deluxe version of her Eternal Sunshine album on March 28.

Listen to Jonas Brothers’ single ‘No Time to Talk’

Jonas Brothers have dropped the new single, “No Time to Talk,” which interpolates the classic 1978 hit song from the Bee Gees, “Stayin’ Alive” (which also originally appeared on the soundtrack to the 1977 film Saturday Night Fever.)

The Brothers wrote on Instagram, “Growing up on the music that our Dad played for us led to a lifelong influence from the legends that came before us. That influence was undeniably felt while writing what is now ‘No Time To Talk’ and putting it out into the world today with The Bee Gees’ blessing feels unreal. We hope you have as much fun with this one as we had making it !! Time to danceeee.”

“No Time to Talk” is included on the Brothers’ new album, Greetings From Your Hometown, due Aug. 8. The brothers will launch their new tour JONAS20: Greetings From Your Hometown just two days later in their home state of New Jersey.

Daisy Edgar-Jones to star in remake of ‘Sense and Sensibility’

Daisy Edgar-Jones is set star in a new big-screen adaptation of Jane Austen’s 19th-century novel, Sense and Sensibility.

Edgar-Jones, 27, shared the news on Instagram, where she posted a photograph of herself holding up a paperback copy of the novel.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Edgar-Jone will play Elinor, with filmmaker Georgia Oakley (“Blue Jean”) directing the film from a script penned by novelist Diana Reid.

Originally published in 1811, “Sense and Sensibility” was the first novel by Austen, who later wrote such literary classics as “Pride and Prejudice,” “Emma” and “Persuasion.” The story of “Sense and Sensibility” follows sisters Elinor (Edgar-Jones) and Marianne Dashwood, who navigate love, loss and financial uncertainty as they are forced to leave their family estate in Sussex. The role of Marianne Dashwood hasn’t been announced yet.

“Sense and Sensibility” has been adapted for the screen a number of times over the years, most notably with director Ang Lee’s 1995 film starring Emma Thompson as Elinor Dashwood and Kate Winslet as Marianne.  Other prior remakes of Austen’s work, including the 2005 version of “Pride and Prejudice” with Keira Knightly and Matthew Macfadyen as well as 2020’s “Emma,” which starred Anya-Taylor Joy.

Sydney Sweeney and Jude Law star in the trailer for ‘Eden’

The trailer for Ron Howard’s new thriller Eden was released, which stars Jude Law and Sydney Sweeney as island settlers fighting to survive.

The trailer shows the diverse group of settlers fighting for survival amidst a grueling backdrop of a deserted island where the only threat to themselves are the other people they share the colony with. Law portrays Dr. Friedrich Ritter, who moves to the island with his wife Dora (Vanessa Kirby), , who left Berlin for Floreana Island in 1929. But when Baroness Eloise Bosquet (Ana de Armas) arrives, chaos follows.

Daniel Brühl also stars in the feature, co-written, co-produced and directed by Howard. According to a synopsis, the film will follow “the shocking true story of a group of disillusioned outsiders who abandon civilization, settling on a remote, uninhabited island only to discover that the greatest threat isn’t the brutal climate or deadly wildlife, but each other. As tensions spiral and desperation takes hold, a twisted power struggle unfolds, leading to betrayal, violence, and the deaths of half the colony.”

The film, inspired by a true story, premiered in 2024 at the Toronto International Film Festival and debuted in German movie theaters in April. The film will debut in U.S. theaters Aug. 22; see the trailer for Eden: HERE.

See Addison Rae’s video for ‘Headphones On’

Addison Rae has released the new song “Headphones On,” the fourth song off her upcoming debut LP, tentatively scheduled to drop on June 6. “Headphones On” follows the February release of “High Fashion,” which dropped after last year’s hit single, “Diet Pepsi” as well as the track “Aquamarine.”

Co-written and produced by Luka Kloser and Elvira Anderfjärd, “Headphones On” was released alongside a music video filmed in Reykjavik, Iceland. The video opens with Rae behind the counter in a pink-and-red rain jacket, playing a cashier. Scenes of her riding a horse through open landscapes are woven throughout. In a message shared on social media, Rae described the personal connection she feels to the track: “This song is deeply connected to me in so many ways. Writing it was healing, emotional, and extremely spiritual. Every good thing comes my way. Because I choose to be good.”

Rae released her debut single, “Obsessed,” in 2021, and she shared her first EP, AR, in 2023.

Benson Boone shares video for ‘Mr. Electric Blue’ off new album

Benson Boone dropped the tongue-in-cheek music video for his new single, “Mr. Electric Blue,” taken off his sophomore album, American Heart.

The visual finds Boone, 22, poking fun at those critics and fans who endlessly troll him on social media, and shows Benson wearing a “One Hit Wonder” T-shirt during a fictional meeting with his agent at ‘Industry Plant Records.’

“Mr. Electric Blue” is the fourth single from American Heart, which also includes the hits songs “Mystical Magical “Sorry I’m Here for Someone Else” and “Momma Song.” Other tracks included on the new album are: “Man in Me,” “Reminds Me of You,” “I Wanna be the One You Call,” “Wanted Man,” “Take Me Home” and “Young American Heart.”

The new 10-song project arrives ahead of Boone’s forthcoming American Heart North American arena tour, which is set to hit Madison Square Garden in New York and the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles after kicking off in St. Paul, Minnesota in August.
