Kate Winslet to star in ‘The Spot’ series for Hulu

Kate Winslet is set to star in  in the Hulu series ‘The Spot’, a drama from screenwriter Ed Solomon.

The official logline states, “When a successful surgeon (Winslet) and her schoolteacher husband begin to suspect that she may be responsible for a child’s hit-and-run death, their quest for truth spirals into a web of mounting suspicion and dark secrets, testing their resolve and their relationship as they confront the possibility of hidden guilt and betrayal.”

Solomon created, wrote and will showrun The Spot, while also executive producing along with Winslet. Solomon’s credits include Men in Black, the Now You See Me movie franchise and the tv series, Mosaic. 

Winslet most recently starred in the HBO limited series “The Regime,” and previously starred in the HBO limited series “Mare of Easttown,” for which she won the Emmy Award for best actress in a limited series (she also won in the same category in 2011 for the HBO series “Mildred Pierce.”)  Winslet will also return to HBO for the limited series “Trust,” which is currently in the works.

Halle Bailey drops video for ‘Because I Love You’

Halle Bailey returns with her second solo single of 2024 with “Because I Love You,” co-written by RAYE.

The music video, directed by Allie Avital, features Halle, 24, and co-star RJ Cyler. In the clip, Halle confronts her lover (Cyler), who steps outside of their relationship with a new woman (also played by Halle).

Bailey shares of the song: “‘Because I Love You’ is a song for anyone who has ever been deeply in love. It’s an anthem that tells the story of all of the beautiful passion and euphoria you can feel with that person. The video dives deeper into how vulnerable it makes you feel. I hope people enjoy listening and thinking of the person they love the most.”

Dua Lipa launching North American leg of ‘Radical Optimism World Tour’ in 2025

Dua Lipa has announced the North American leg of her “Radical Optimism World Tour,” marking Dua’s third concert tour and serving as support of her third studio album, Radical Optimism, which was released in May 2024.

The Radical Optimism World Tour officially kicked off in June 2024 with a run of shows in Europe, as well as a headlining appearance at the Glastonbury Music Festival in June.  The 20-date arena North American leg launches in September 2025, with dates at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto; United Center in Chicago; TD Garden in Boston; Madison Square Garden in New York; Kaseya Center in Miami; Kia Form in Los Angeles; and Chase Center in San Francisco, and more.

Dua Lipa will also be headlining the Austin City Limits Music Festival in Austin, Texas on October 5th and October 12th, 2024.

Paramount+ released the first trailer for the new drama series “Landman, ” from “Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan.

Demi Moore and Billy Bob Thornton star in Landman alongside Ali Larter, Michelle Randolph, Jacob Lofland, Kayla Wallace, James Jordan, Mark Collie, and Paulina Chávez, with Jon Hamm, Andy Garcia and Michael Peña as guest stars.

Inspired by the podcast Boomtown, the show’s official description reads: “Landman is a modern-day tale of fortune-seeking in the world of oil rigs. Based on the notable 11-part podcast Boomtown from Imperative Entertainment and Texas Monthly, the series is an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling a boom so big, it’s reshaping our climate, our economy and our geopolitics.”

Stacy London and Clinton Kelly to reunite for Amazon reality series ‘Wear Whatever The F You Want’

Clinton Kelly and Stacy London, the hosts of the long-running TLC fashion series What Not To Wear, are teaming up for a new reality show at Amazon Prime Video titled ‘Wear Whatever The F You Want.’ The eight-part series will mark the first time London and Kelly have hosted a show together in over a decade. Clinton and Kelly will both serve as executive producers on the series, along with Sandy Varo Jarrell, Suzanne Rauscher, Justin Rae Barnes, and Janelle Couture.

Lauren Anderson, head of Brand and Content Innovation, Amazon MGM Studios, said in a statement: “Since Clinton and Stacy first appeared on television, they have remained at the forefront of showing us how to use fashion as a means of self-empowerment. Their playful banter and distinct approach have helped instill confidence in viewers for almost two decade. “What Not to Wear” originally aired for 10 seasons on TLC before ending its run in 2013.

Eminem has released the ‘Expanded Mourner’s Edition’ of his latest album “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce),” which was released back in July.  The Death of Slim Shady marked the Detroit rapper’s 12th studio album, and the follow-up to 2020’s “Music To Be Murdered By.”

The new version of The Death of Slim Shady comes with a pack of 23 tracks, which includes “Fuel” Shady Edition featuring Westside Boogie & GRIP, “Like My Sh-t”, and “Kyrie & Luka” featuring 2 Chainz. The album originally featured appearances from Dr. Dre, Skylar Grey, White Gold, Sly Pyper, JID, Ez Mil, Jelly Roll, Bizarre and more.

“The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce)” moved 281,000 equivalent album units in the week ending July 18, to earn the No 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart.

Lionsgate is gearing up to release the latest project from Francis Ford Coppola, “Megalopolis,” sharing a trailer for the film that was written, directed and produced by Coppola himself.

Megalopolis, starring Adam Driver, Giancarlo Esposito and Nathalie Emmanuel, follows the collapse of a future American empire while referencing the fall of Rome. The film marks the culmination of a decades-long project from the Coppola, who started working on the “Megalopolis” screenplay in the 1980s and invested $120 million of his own money into the making of it.

An official synopsis reads: “Megalopolis is a Roman Epic set in an imagined Modern America. The City of New Rome must change, causing conflict between Cesar Catalina (Driver), a genius artist who seeks to leap into a utopian, idealistic future, and his opposition, Mayor Franklyn Cicero (Esposito), who remains committed to a regressive status quo, perpetuating greed, special interests, and partisan warfare. Torn between them is socialite Julia Cicero (Emmanuel), the mayor’s daughter, whose love for Cesar has divided her loyalties, forcing her to discover what she truly believes humanity deserves.”

Megalopolis had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May; the cast also includes Aubrey Plaza, Shia LaBeouf, Jon Voight, Laurence Fishburne, Kathryn Hunter and Dustin Hoffman.

Paramount shared a trailer for Apartment 7A, the prequel to ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ featuring Julia Garner and directed by Natalie Erika James.

Apartment 7A focuses on Terry Gionoffrio (Garner), an aspiring dancer in New York City who suffers an injury and moves into a luxury apartment building in 1965 called the Bramford with an affluent couple (Wiest and McNally). After a Broadway producer (Sturgess) offers her a path to fame, Terry has an evening she can’t quite remember and suspects that something evil inhabits her apartment and the building itself.  An official synopsis reading: “However, after an evening she can’t fully remember, disturbing circumstances soon have her second-guessing the sacrifices she’s willing to make for her career as she realizes that something evil is living not only in Apartment 7A, but in the Bramford itself.”  

The cast of ‘Apartment 7A’ also includes Dianne Wiest, Kevin McNally, Jim Sturgess, Marli Siu, Andrew Buchan, Rosy McEwen and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith. The film was inspired by Ira Levin’s Rosemary’s Baby and offers viewers a glimpse of the Bramford prior to Rosemary’s arrival.

Usher announces ‘Confessions’ 20th anniversary edition

Usher is celebrating the 20th anniversary of his 2004 album, Confessions by announcing that a 20th-anniversary edition of the full-length effort will be available to pre-order for both digital and physical copies.

Vinyls for Confessions (20th Anniversary Edition) are slated to ship on Nov. 1, with the DSP formats set to complete on the same day. Usher posted on Instagram: “CONFESSIONS 20 – SPECIAL EDITION A special 20th anniversary edition of my diamond selling album “Confessions” is available for digital and physical pre-order. Confessions was RIAA-certified platinum for the 14th time and featured the tracks “Yeah!” with Lil Jon and Ludacris, “Bad Girl,” “Caught Up,”  “Can U Handle It?” and more.  In addition to the 19 original songs, the songs “Superstar” and “Burn” will receive orchestral remixes, while “Seduction” and “Confessions, Pt. Katy Perry drops ‘143’ album, see video for ‘I’m His, He’s Mine’ featuring Doechii

Katy Perry has finally dropped her new album 143, shortly after the release of the video for her collab with rapper Doechii, “I’m His, He’s Mine” which features a sample of Crystal Waters‘ 1991 hit “Gypsy Woman.” The video for I’m His, He’s Mine features Katy skydiving and riding on the hood of a silver sports car, while Doechii flies through the air while hanging onto a drone.

The 11-track album 143 is Perry’s first since Smile, which dropped in 2020. 143 features collaborations with 21 Savage, Kim Petras, JID and Doechii, who performed “I’m His, He’s Mine” with Perry at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sept. 11, where she also received the Video Vanguard Award.

Perry said in a statement: “I’ve heard a lot of do this, don’t do that, wear less, wear more now, don’t cut your hair. One of the biggest reasons I’m standing here right now is I learned how to block out all the noise, that every single artist in this industry has to constantly fight against, especially women.  I just want to say with my whole heart, do whatever it takes to stay true to yourself and true to your art, turn off social media, safeguard your mental health, pause, touch grass, and do what you were born to do, just like I was born to do this.”
