NBC Sports announced that Snoop Dogg is joining NBCUniversal’s coverage of the 2024 Summer Games, taking place in Paris, France. Snoop will provide regular reports for the Olympics primetime show beginning July 26 for NBC and Peacock.  The rapper will speak with NBC Olympics host Mike Tirico throughout the Olympics, providing his unique take on the games and events; as well as explore the city’s iconic landmarks, attend Olympic competitions, and chat with the athletes, their friends and families.

Said Snoop: “I grew up watching the Olympics and am thrilled to see the incredible athletes bring their A-game to Paris. It’s a celebration of skill, dedication and the pursuit of greatness. We’re going to have some amazing competitions and, of course, I will be bringing that Snoop style to the mix. It’s going to be the most epic Olympics ever, so stay tuned, and keep it locked. Let’s elevate, celebrate and make these games unforgettable, smoke the competition, and may the best shine like gold. Peace and Olympic LOVE, ya dig?”

Molly Solomon, executive producer and president of NBC Olympics Production, said: “Snoop is already an Olympic gold medal commentator, generating tens of millions of views for his highlights commentary on Peacock of the dressage competition during the Tokyo Olympics. That performance alone has earned Snoop a job as our Special Correspondent in Paris. We don’t know what the heck is going to happen every day, but we know he will add his unique perspective to our reimagined Olympic primetime show.”

NBC and Peacock will be NBCUniversal’s primary platforms for its coverage of the Olympic Games Paris 2024, which are scheduled for July 26-Aug. 11.

Courteney Cox’s ‘Shining Vale’ cancelled on Starz after two seasons

Starz’s supernatural dramedy Shining Vale, starring Courteney Cox and Greg Kinnear, has been canceled after two seasons. The series, which followed a dysfunctional family who moves from the city to a haunted house in a small town, also starred Gus Birney, Dylan Gage, Merrin Dungey, Mira Sorvino, Sherilyn Fenn and Judith Light.

The show’s co-creator Jeff Astrof wrote on X:  ‘This show gave me unrelenting joy to work on. Not a single bad day. Please watch the #starz (turns out, Limited) series #shiningvale before 12/31. #wearephelps’

Screenwriter Kay Reindl also took to social media to address the show’s ending: ‘Such a wonderful experience! If you haven’t seen it, now you can just do a trial and watch (sadly) all the episodes. Sorry about the cliffhanger. 😢

Celebrity presenters announced for 2024 Golden Globe Awards ceremony

The 2024 Golden Globe Awards are sharing the list of award presenters for the show’s 81st ceremony, set to air on CBS Jan. 7.  America Ferrera, Daniel Kaluuya, Florence Pugh, Hailee Steinfeld, Issa Rae, Oprah Winfrey, Shameik Moore, and Simu Liu have been selected as the second round of presenters; they join previously announced presenters including Amanda Seyfried, Angela Bassett, Suits stars Gabriel Macht and Patrick J. Adams, George Lopez, Julia Garner, Justin Hartley, Michelle Yeoh and Will Ferrell.

The Golden Globes previously announced that comedian Jo Koy will serves as host of this year’s ceremony, with Globes President Helen Hoehne sharing in a statement: “We are thrilled to have Jo host the 81st annual Golden Globe Awards and bring his infectious energy and relatable humor to kick off Hollywood’s award season. We can’t wait to see what he has in store for the stars in the room and a global audience. We know Jo is bringing his A-game.”

Koy, 52, shared the news in a post on social media last month: “So excited to announce that I will be hosting the 2024 @goldenglobes! Make sure to tune-in on Sunday, January 7 at 8pm ET / 5pm PT – airing live on @cbstv and streaming on @paramountplus #GoldenGlobes.”  Koy also said in a statement, “I’ve stepped onto a lot of stages around the world in my career, but this one is going to be extra special. I’m so excited to be hosting the Golden Globes this year. This is that moment where I get to make my Filipino family proud. Mahal Kita (Google it)!”

Barbie leads among films in total nominations with nine; with Oppenheimer following with eight, and Killers of the Flower Moon and Poor Things both receiving seven nominations. The final season of HBO’s Succession received nine total nominations on the television side.

The 2024 Golden Globe Awards will air live on CBS Sunday, Jan. 7, from 8 to 11 p.m. ET, directly after an NFL on CBS Sunday doubleheader. The show will also stream on Paramount+ and be available on the CBS app.

Jonas Brothers to perform at NHL Stadium Series pregame show

The Jonas Brothers will take the stage at an NHL Stadium Series pregame show in February. The National Hockey League (NHL) announced in a press release that the famous brothers will headline the pregame concert ahead of the 2024 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series hockey game between the New Jersey Devils and Philadelphia Flyers, taking place Feb. 17 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

Jonas Brothers and NHL posted on its socials: “You heard us… We’re excited to perform at #StadiumSeries on Feb. 17 at @metlifestadium before the Devils and Flyers face off 🔥🏒 We’ll see you on the ice!” The Jonas Brothers, comprised of New Jersey natives Kevin Jonas, Joe Jonas and Nick Jonas, will perform a full set of their greatest hits, including songs from their latest album, The Album.

The Jonas Brothers said in a statement: “What a dream to open for the Devils in our home state  We’re super excited to be at MetLife and open up the great NHL Stadium Series weekend in front of hometown friends, family and thousands of hockey fans.”

The Flyers-Devils game will air on February 17th at 8 p.m. EST on ABC and ESPN+.

‘Mother Fitness’ sings the praises of Planet Fitness – home of the Judgement Free Zone, to find their Big Fitness Energy, with Megan writing on her socials: “Hotties, Mother Fitness has arrived and she’s ready to spread Big Fitness Energy to all! The integrated marketing campaign includes advertising and commercial spots, a unique AR filter, and in-app Planet Fitness workouts inspired by Megan herself.  Additionally, a co-branded exclusive merchandise line (which includes crew neck sweatshirts declaring ‘Big Fitness Energy for Everybody (-ody-ody)’, bucket hats, and water bottles emblazoned with ‘Real Hot Girl Fit’) will be available online through 1/12, benefiting Megan Thee Stallion’s mental health-focused organization – the Pete & Thomas Foundation.

Amazon Prime Video shared a teaser trailer for its new series Mr. & Mrs. Smith, featuring Donald Glover and Maya Erskine. Mr. & Mrs. Smith is a reimagining of the 2005 action comedy film of the same name starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

In the series, Glover and Erskine play two lonely strangers who land jobs for a mysterious spy agency. The pair must assume new identities in an arranged marriage as Mr. and Mrs. John and Jane Smith. An official synopsis reads: “Now hitched, John and Jane navigate a high-risk mission every week while also facing a new relationship milestone. Their complex cover story becomes even more complicated when they catch real feelings for each other. What’s riskier: espionage or marriage?” The teaser trailer shows John (Glover) and Jane (Erskine) get to know each other while taking on action-packed missions.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith is co-created and executive produced by Glover and Francesca Sloane (who previously collaborated on Glover’s series Atlanta).  The series also stars Paul Dano, Parker Posey, Wagner Moura, John Turturro, Ron Perlman, Michaela Coel, Eiza Gonzalez, Alexander Skarsgard and Sharon Horgan.

Usher and H.E.R. share video for ‘Risk It All’

Usher and H.E.R. have dropped the video for their duet “Risk It All,” directed by Dave Meyers. Usher and H.E.R. recorded the song as part of the soundtrack for The Color Purple, a new film based on the Broadway musical and Alice Walker novel. The Color Purple (Music From and Inspire By) includes additional songs by Alicia Keys, Mary J. Blige, Fantasia, Keyshia Cole, Jorja Smith, Coco Jones and more.  H.E.R. plays Mary Agnes, aka Squeak, in the new film.

An official description of “Risk It All” reads: “The song brings together these two award-winning superstars for a special collaboration that encapsulates the raw emotion and enduring strength of The Color Purple’s film narratives: risk, love and liberation. Usher’s signature smooth tones blend seamlessly with H.E.R.’s soulful depth, creating a hymn of resilience and courage.”  “Risk It All,” produced by H.E.R., is No. 13 on BIllboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart. The song will also be featured on Usher’s upcoming album, Coming Home, arriving Feb. 9, 2024. Upon the song release, Usher gave a shoutout to H.E.R. on Instagram, writing, “U produced and co-wrote such a beautiful record. Appreciate U for blessing this video with all of your greatness.”

American Idol has shared a ‘Wizard of Oz’-inspired trailer video showcasing the show’s judges and host, and has also revealed the premiere date for the 2024 season of the long-running series. Host Ryan Seacrest, along with judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie, are returning for Season 22 of American Idol in its seventh straight season on ABC, debuting Feb. 18 on ABC (and streaming on Hulu).

In announcing the new season’s premiere date, Seacrest, Bryan, Perry and Richie walk the “golden ticket road” to Hollywood, paying homage to the hometowns of several previous American Idol winners (such as Kelly Clarkson’s hometown of Burelson, Texas, and Carrie Underwood’s hometown of Checotah, Okla.).
