Elton John is back at home after suffering a fall at his Mont Boron villa in Nice, France, on Sunday. Page Six reported that the 76-year-old was taken to the Princess Grace hospital’s orthopedic centre in Monaco to be checked over, with John’s rep sharing, “We can confirm that following a slip yesterday at his home in the South of France, Elton visited the local hospital as a precautionary measure. Following checkups, he was immediately discharged this morning and is now back at home and in good health.”

The legendary singer just completed his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in Stockholm in July, which originally launched in 2018 and was delayed in 2020 due to the COVID pandemic. John had previously experienced a fall in 2021, which forced him to reschedule dates on the tour; at the time, doctors advised John to have surgery and undergo intensive physiotherapy.

shutterstock_2215124887584776

Selena Gomez just dropped her new song, “Single Soon,” produced by benny blanco and Cashmere Cat. Gomez announced the single earlier this month on Instagram, writing: “Y’all have been asking for new music for a while. Since I’m not quite done with SG3, I wanted to put out a fun little song I wrote a while back that’s perfect for the end of summer.”

In the accompanying music video for ‘Single Soon’, Gomez gears up for a wild girls night out with her friends, as she plans to call it quits with her significant other over the phone or a Post-It note that reads, “I’m sorry, I can’t, don’t hate me” (a ‘Sex and the City’ reference of when the character of Jack Berger (Ron Livingston) leaves that same Post-It message to Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw). The video, directed by Philip Andelman, shows the 31-year-old Gomez having a fancy dinner, a limo ride, karaoke and clubbing with her girlfriends.

Legendary ‘The Price Is Right’ host Bob Barker dies at age 99

shutterstock_270493118560220

Beloved game show host Bob Barker has passed away at the age of 99.

Bob’s former publicist Roger Neal announced the television icon’s death on behalf of Barker’s girlfriend, Nancy Burnet. The statement read: “It is with profound sadness that we announce that the World’s Greatest MC who ever lived, Bob Barker, has left us. I am so proud of the trailblazing work Barker, and I did together to expose the cruelty to animals in the entertainment industry and including working to improve the plight of abused and exploited animals in the United States and internationally. We were great friends over these 40 yrs. He will be missed.” Barker died of natural causes.

Barker landed his first hosting gig on the game show Truth or Consequences, which he hosted for 18 years. Barker began hosting CBS daytime’s The Price is Right in 1972, and it quickly became a smash hit, eventually becoming the longest-running game show in U.S. history. For over 35 years, Barker hosted The Price is Right until his retirement in 2007.

Barker also hosted the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants for 22 years; however, he severed ties with the organization in 1987 after discovering that contestants would model furs during the swimsuit competition, which didn’t align with Barker’s longtime support for animal advocacy.

Barker won 18 Daytime Emmy Awards and received a Lifetime Achievement Award in 1999; and in 2004, he was inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame.

Barker is survived by his half-brother Kent Valandra and half-nephews Robert Valandra and Chip Valandra, as well as a half-niece, Vickie Valandra Kelly.

Ed Sheeran announces new album ‘Autumn Variations’

shutterstock_1427819708950964

Ed Sheeran has announced his seventh studio album, Autumn Variations, will be released on September 29th via Atlantic Records. Autumn Variations will be Sheeran’s second album release of 2023, and is produced by Aaron Dessner, who also produced Sheeran’s LP Subtract (-), which dropped in May 2023.

Sheeran posted on social media: “Last autumn, I found that my friends and I were going through so many life changes. After the heat of the summer, everything either calmed, settled, fell apart, came to a head or imploded. When I went through a difficult time at the start of last year, writing songs helped me understand my feelings and come to terms with what was going on, and when I learned about my friend’s different situations, I wrote songs, some from their perspectives, some from mine, to capture how they and I viewed the world at that time. There were highs of falling in love and new friendships among lows of heartbreak, depression, loneliness and confusion … My dad and brother told me about a composer called Elgar, who composed ‘Enigma Variations,’ where each of the 14 compositions were about a different one of his friends. This is what inspired me to make this album. When I recorded Subtract with Aaron Dessner, we clicked immediately. We wrote and recorded non-stop and this album was born out of that partnership. I feel he has captured the feeling of autumn so wonderfully in his sonics and I hope everyone loves it as much as I do.”

The 14-track album will be available on CD, LP, and several limited edition vinyl variations, including a harvest orange vinyl and limited edition first pressing white vinyl.  To pre-order Autumn Variations, head here.

‘Frasier’ revival to premiere October 12 on Paramount+

shutterstock_1317566411664140

Paramount+ released a teaser for the revival of the hit comedy series ‘Frasier’. The original ‘Frasier’ series was a spin-off from hit comedy Cheers, with Kelsey Grammer’s psychiatrist Frasier Crane moving to Seattle to be with his family and host a radio call-in program. In the revival series, Frasier moves back to Boston.

The teaser features a new animated rendition of the Frasier opening with the “Tossed Salad and Scrambled Eggs” theme song along with the text: “No more callers. All new hang ups. Oh, what fresh start is this?” Additionally, instead of the traditional closing, “Frasier has left the building,” the theme now sings, “Fraser has re-entered the building.”

The ‘Frasier’ revival is a sequel of sorts, featuring a 10-episode season. The revival “follows Frasier Crane in the next chapter of his life as he returns to Boston with new challenges to face, new relationships to forge and an old dream or two to finally fulfill.” Jack Cutmore-Scott plays Frasier’s now adult son, Freddy, with Bebe Neuwirth confirmed to reprise her role as Frasier’s ex-wife, Lilith, as well as Peri Gilpin reprising her role as Frasier’s producer, Roz, in guest appearances. Toks Olagundoye, Jess Salgueiro and Anders Keith have also joined the cast. David Hyde Pierce, who played Frasier’s brother, Niles, will not be returning (on the reboot, Niles presumably still lives in Seattle); and actor John Mahoney, who played Frasier and Niles’ father, passed away in 2018.

The revival will premiere October 12 in the U.S. and Canada with a pair of episodes over Paramount+, with new episodes then dropping weekly on Thursdays thereafter. In addition, CBS is broadcasting the first two episodes back to back on October 17 . Check out the teaser for the revival series – here.
