Lil Baby and Sam Smith to perform on ‘Saturday Night Live’ this month

Sam Smith and Lil Baby have been announced as the first musical guests on NBC’s Saturday Night Live in 2023. The series returns on January 21, with Smith as musical guest joined by guest host Aubrey Plaza. A week later on January 28, Lil Baby will perform alongside host Michael B. Jordan.

SNL closed out 2022 with a performance from Lizzo, who played ‘Break Up Twice’ and Stevie Wonder‘s festive tune ‘Someday At Christmas’. Other recent musical guests have included SZA, Willow, Megan Thee Stallion, Jack Harlow and Steve Lacy.

Claire Danes and Hugh Dancy expecting their third child

Claire Danes and Hugh Dancy are expecting their third child together. The notoriously private couple made the pregnancy announcement to People through their representatives.

Danes, 43 and Dancy, 47, were married in September 2009 in a quiet ceremony in France, after first meeting in 2006 while filming the movie Evening in Newport, Rhode Island. The couple share two sons together, 10-year-old Cyrus Michael Christopher, and 4-year-old Rowan.

The couple’s news comes after nominees for the Golden Globe Awards were announced last month, where Danes was nominated in the “Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television” category for her part in “Fleishman Is in Trouble.”  The eight-episode FX series on Hulu co-stars Jesse Eisenberg; Danes plays Rachel, the wife of Eisenberg’s character Toby Fleishman.

Aubrey Plaza & Michael B. Jordan to be first 2023 hosts on ‘Saturday Night Live’

Aubrey Plaza and Michael B. Jordan will be the first two Saturday Night Live hosts kicking-off 2023.

NBC revealed Plaza will host Jan. 21 for the first time, along with musical guest Sam Smith, who will be on the show for the third time. Plaza stars in HBO’s The White Lotus and in Emily the Criminal, which is currently streaming on Netflix.

On Jan. 28, Michael B. Jordan will make his SNL hosting debut, featuring Lil Baby as musical guest, which marks his first appearance on the show as well. Jordan recently reprised his role as Erik “Killmonger” Stevens in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and will make this directing debut with Creed III. Jordan stars in and directed the film, which arrives in theaters March 3.

The second-half of Saturday Night Live’s Season 48 will air on both NBC and Peacock.

Olivia Rodrigo teases new music on the anniversary of “Driver’s License”

Olivia Rodrigo took to her Instagram Story to share a video of her and a collaborator working on new music together. On the second anniversary of the release of her breakout single “drivers license,” the 19-year-old shared a clip of herself and music producer Dan Nigro rocking out to a snippet of a new track. Rodrigo captioned the post: “working on so many new songs I’m excited to show u! thank u for everything.”

Olivia previously discussed working on her second album, telling Billboard in February 2022:  “It’s definitely a different experience writing a second album after having a debut that was so well received. I still write so much of my music in my bedroom though, and I don’t think that experience will ever change. Writing songs will hopefully always be an outlet for me to process my feelings before anything else.”

Rodrigo released her debut album Sour in May 2021, featuring the smash hit singles “drivers license,” Deja Vu,” and “Good 4 U”.  Sour was the third most-streamed album on Spotify in 2022.

Dolly Parton, Gloria Estefan, Belinda Carlile, Cyndi Lauper, Debbie Harry team up for “Gonna Be You”

Dolly Parton, Belinda Carlisle, Cyndi Lauper, Gloria Estefan and Debbie Harry have teamed up for the new single “Gonna Be You” from the upcoming film ’80 For Brady.,’ written by Grammy and Emmy Award-winning songwriter Diane Warren and set for release on January 20th.

Warrens said of the song: “When I wrote ‘Gonna Be You’ for 80 for Brady, I wanted to write a song that celebrated these women’s deep friendship. Since 80 was in the title I got a crazy idea, why not get some of the most iconic singers from the 80s, who are still amazing and always will be, to all sing it?!!!! Everyone I approached said yes and was just as excited as me!! I’m honored to have Dolly Parton, Belinda Carlisle, Cyndi Lauper, Gloria Estefan and Debbie Harry on this song!! ‘Gonna Be You’ is that song you want to sing along to with all your good friends!!!”

’80 For Brady,‘ starring Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno and Sally Field, is inspired by the true story of four best friends living life to the fullest when they take a wild trip to the 2017 Super Bowl LI to see their hero Tom Brady play. 80 for Brady is in-theaters February 3rd.

‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ coming to Disney+ in February

Disney+ shared the news that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is coming to the streaming service this February. Disney+ announced in a press release that The Marvel superhero film will start streaming Feb. 1st, along with sharing new key art and a TV spot trailer for the movie. The film opened in theaters in November 2022.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be the 16th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to become available to stream in IMAX Enhanced on Disney+. The film is a sequel to the 2018 movie Black Panther and follows the leaders of Wakanda as they fight to protect their nation after the death of T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman). Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Winston Duke, Florence Kasumba, Dominique Thorne, Michaela Coel, Tenoch Huerta Mejia, Martin Freeman, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Angela Bassett star.

Season 3 of Netflix’s ‘Outer Banks’ set to debut in February

Netflix announced that Season 3 of “Outer Banks” will premiere on February 23, comprised of the 10-episodes.

An official synopsis reads: “After losing the gold and fleeing the Outer Banks, Season 3 finds the Pogues washed ashore on a desert island that, for a brief moment, seems like an idyllic home. Officially deemed ‘Poguelandia,’ the island’s newest residents spend their days fishing, swimming, and reveling in the carefree lifestyle of their temporary dwelling. But things quickly go south for John B, Sarah, Kiara, Pope, JJ, and Cleo when they find themselves once again caught up in a race for the treasure, quite literally running for their lives.”

The Weeknd releases the music video for “Is There Someone Else?”

The Weeknd has released the music video for his song titled “Is There Someone Else?”, arriving on the first anniversary of his fifth studio album “Dawn FM“. The video is directed by Cliqua, who were also behind videos for “Take My Breath,” “Sacrifice,” and “Out of Time.” Dawn FM featured guest appearances from Jim Carrey, Tyler, the Creator, Lil Wayne, Quincy Jones, and Oneohtrix Point Never, as well as production from Max Martin, Matt Cohn, OPN, and Oscar Holter.

The video for “Is There Someone Else?” arrives just a few weeks after The Weeknd concluded the first leg of his After Hours Til Dawn Tour., and shortly after releasing his first new material in 2023 with “Nothing Is Lost (You Give Me Strength),” from the Avatar: The Way of Water soundtrack.

Miley Cyrus announces new album ‘Endless Summer Vacation’

Miley Cyrus has announced her new album, Endless Summer Vacation, will drop on March 10 via Columbia. The album is the follow-up to Cyrus’ 2020 LP, Plastic Hearts.

Endless Summer Vacation was recorded in Los Angeles and features production from Mike Will Made-It, Greg Kurstin, Tyler Johnson, and Kid Harpoon. Cyrus announced the album news with a short video trailer, which finds Cyrus poolside as it cuts between shots of the musician and the blue sky and water that surround her. The lead single from Endless Summer Vacation’s, titled “Flowers,” is out January 13.

Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle announce 2023 co-headlining tour dates

Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle have announced a series of 2023 dates for their co-headlining tour, which will be an extension of their nine-date tour that took place in early to mid-December 2021 where they performed in the California and Arizona area: namely San Diego, Phoenix, Anaheim, San Jose, San Francisco, Sacramento and Thousand Palms.

The two comedians are now set to hit the road in late January for a five-date engagement, starting in Oklahoma City on January 20 followed by shows in St. Louis on January 22, Memphis on January 23 and birmingham on January 25 before closing it out in North Charleston on January 27.

Tickets go on sale on January 6 via Ticketmaster.
